Barranco de Mascuervo has a flat tree lined riverbed with long climbing hills on both sides. We chose a looping trail that climbed up the side of the canyon to get big views, and then came back down to a steep trail to play in the shade of the canyon.

The Cross of Teror
In the hills above the town of Teror are all kinds of ecosystems. Fern forests. Cactus and succulent fields. Eucalyptus groves. We hiked up to the electric christian cross overlooking the town. It wasn’t all that long but it went up and up and up. We climbed 420 metres!!! Crazy right. It looked over the entire village of Teror, the views were amazing. The trail is a loop, which I like better.

This is an amazing hike for littles and adults. We walked a short, lovely loop through beautiful green pine trees. The views of the mountains are big and awe inspiring. I feel silly using so many extravagant descriptions, but it was that spectacular.

In the southern tip of the island of La Palma, the path of the volcanos was one of my favorite hikes. We wandered the edge of a volcano, walked down a challenging hiking trail through lava fields and cooled off at the beach. But we all had a blast on the trail. Afterwards we took a bus back up to where we parked our car. It is a great place for everyone to explore.

This is the perfect kid hike if you are on the south of Gran Canaria and have half a day. Someone made a scavenger hunt for kids that included painted rocks. The canyon and hike area are really pretty and the total distance is just under 5km.

Every year, there is a festival in Valsequillo to celebrate the almond trees blooms. The whole valley is covered in a layer of white and pink flowers. Here in Gran Canaria, spring starts in January.
